2026.10.14.002 — Published image maintenance without legacy social requeueing

All release notes

2026-10-14 · CPH Assistant Access

CPH Assistant Access repairs featured images on published WordPress articles while suppressing an older thumbnail callback that otherwise requeues those articles for social sharing.

What changed

  • Retain the published-image repair workflow introduced in 2026.10.14.001.
  • During a published-image repair, suppress only the known legacy social callback for the target article thumbnail change. Continue unrelated metadata hooks and restore the callback after the operation.
  • Validate callback registrations before changing an image and fail without writing if an unexpected registration cannot be guarded safely.
  • Preserve existing social queue and share records, article status, dates and content. Draft behavior and existing publishing policies remain unchanged.

Verification

  • All 846 PHP regression assertions, settings checks, PHP syntax checks and eight packaging tests passed.
  • All 91 image-workflow assertions passed using the default test harness and the native WordPress 6.6 and 7.1.3 hook dispatchers. Other WordPress services in these tests use fixtures.
  • An independent review approved the final guard and reran the 91 workflow checks on all three hook engines.
  • The earlier live test verified the image association change and restoration, but exposed two legacy queue metadata writes. Those test-created records were removed conditionally; the earlier result is retained as a failed preservation check.

Rollout

Pending controlled rollout. Public notes precede distribution. A live preservation check and site installation receipts will be appended after verification.

Updating

  • This cumulative maintenance overlay replaces only the Assistant Access entry point and image workflow files. It includes the earlier published-image repair.
  • Verify the baseline, retain exact file backups and deploy the two files together. Other helpers, publisher code and protected settings remain in place.
  • Use the dedicated attach-images route with a current article revision and an intentional client request ID. Upload replacement media without a published parent before attaching it.
  • Developed by Matthew X Murphy, MatthewxMurphy.com; software portfolio at BuiltNotBegged.com. Release owner: CreatorPublishingHub.com.

Scope and limitations

  • This fix does not create artwork or complete undersized-image and missing-image backfills.
  • Scheduled articles and general article editing remain outside this focused repair.
  • Only the identified legacy callback is suppressed. Other custom integrations require their own verification; a queue entry is not evidence of external delivery.
  • External WordPress writers can still race with an assistant operation. Featured-image and companion-image writes are not one database transaction. Reconcile uncertain results using the retained operation receipt.
  • Image changes affect the evidence revision. Earlier reviews remain history, rather than approval of replacement artwork.

Verification follow-up and superseding release

Version 2026.10.14.002 was installed on all six CPH sites. A live published-image association change and restoration preserved article and social state and correctly changed the displayed image. Its Open Graph image stayed stale because the SEO plugin did not rebuild its featured-image-derived index record. The earlier full verification receipt therefore remained incomplete.

Version 2026.10.14.003 adds a target-article SEO refresh and supersedes this build. Earlier source and artifacts remain retained.
